Firewood FAQ

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF BURNING HARDWOODS VS. SOFTWOODS?

You are generally getting almost twice as much heat value from hardwoods compared to  softwoods.  So from an economic standpoint, you get more bang for your  buck.  A full cord of aged softwoods can weigh sometimes only half of what  a full cord of  aged hardwoods would weigh.  In turn, this forces you to reorder more often, costing you more money in the long run.

WHY SHOULD I CONSIDER BECOMMING A PINNACLE FIREWOOD CUSTOMER?

You are supporting a professional local firewood company, not an out of town door  knocker vendor.  We also guarantee our volumes according to the Minnesota  Dept. of Weights and Measures.  We will never mix softwoods like pine,  Poplar or willow and claim to sell you a hardwood mix.  We have run an honest business for over 15 years and our large repeat customer base is a testimonial to that.

HOW DO THOSE SMALL BAGS OF FIREWOOD AT GAS STATIONS ADD UP IN THE LONG RUN?

Generally they are a rip off.  They may seem convenient, however they  typically add up to be 30%-50% more in price if you were to stack many, many bags to equal a full cord.

HOW LONG HAS YOUR FIREWOOD BEEN SEASONED?

All of our firewood is generally seasoned for between 1&1/2 - 2&1/2 years, depending on the species of wood.

HOW MANY DAYS WILL IT TAKE TO RECEIVE MY FIREWOOD ORDER?|

Being we are local in the Twin City Metro Area, generally we can fill orders in less than 24 hours.  That is a large advantage we have over many of our competitors who are hours away from the Twin Cities.

WHY ARE PRICES SO DIFFERENT WHEN PURCHASING FIREWOOD?

You may see in your local newspaper, 1/3 of cord for $95.00.  We sold wood at that price too, back in 1993.  If you see very cheap prices, typically the firewood is probably not seasoned, it will be crisscrossed stacked (so you will receive only about 60% of what you really paid for) or the wood is a mix of junk and you will burn through it quickly and have to reorder very quickly.   Also, it seems in this day and age everyone with a pickup truck and a chainsaw is firewood business. When ordering from these vendors, they generally always run out or leave you high and dry when they go out of business in a year or two.  Avoid partial cords or unusual measurements.  Some vendors sell 3'x4' stacks or 3'x7' stacks. You may feel like you are getting a good deal, but if you calculate out the volume in full cords, they could cost you more than you think!
